ABOUT SEN. KEN BOGNER

Deep Montana Roots

Lieutenant Governor Candidate, Ken Bogner was born and raised in Eastern Montana, to a family that first settled as ranching homesteaders in Carter County over 100 years ago.  Raised in Miles City, Montana, Ken attended Custer County District High School. He was 14 years old, getting ready for school, when he saw on the news the events of September 11th, 2001.  It was that day that he felt a calling to public service and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps upon graduation.

With the Marines, Ken served two tours in Iraq as a Combat Engineer, completing missions on the Euphrates River and supporting border security on the Syrian border.  He advanced to the rank of Sergeant before his completion of service in 2009.

Higher Education

After his service, Ken attended Columbia University on the GI Bill, earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He then accepted his first job in politics as a Political Director for Janet Nguyen’s 2014 State Senate race for California Senate District 34.  The victory in California was crucial for California Republicans, as the Democrats were denied a supermajority in the state legislature.  After, Ken continued his education at Middlesex University in London, earning a master’s degree in Governance and Public Policy in 2016.
