Monday, May 18th, Yellowstone National Park will open but with one big drawback: the Montana gates of West Yellowstone, Gardiner and Cooke City will remain closed per Governor Bullock’s demands. As of now, there is no date planned for their openings. Wyoming’s Governor, Mark Gordon, wishes to open the park ASAP, but because of Bullock’s resistance, the decision has been made to only open the Cody and Jackson, WY gates.
If I was Governor, I would agree with Wyoming to open all Yellowstone gates this Monday, encouraging visitors to follow the current health guidelines and help put Montanans back to work.
Once again, Governor Bullock is negatively affecting our state’s economy and going against our President’s policies for the re-opening of public places with the encouragement to follow the current health guidelines. These continued gate closures not only restrict Montana citizens from enjoying the park, but it also causes Montana businesses to lose thousands of dollars. Many businesses in the greater-Yellowstone area depend on the park’s tourism.
